The first question you might ask is, “Really, Toni? Another blog?? Haven’t you been down this road before?”
Yes, it’s true, this isn’t my first rodeo. I’ve been blogging since 2005. I had a small blog during my first surrogate pregnancy. After the pregnancy was over, I discovered Myspace in 2006, and had a daily blog for over three years. Then, I moved to WordPress in 2009, where I had a blog until late 2010.
Somewhere along the way, in late 2010, I lost my steam. Life, ya know? It can be overwhelmingly crazy at times. I just lost my drive. For the last year, I haven’t given much thought to blogging, and really only missed it on occasion. Here recently though, I have had an itch that needed scratching.
I have been feeling like I need something to do that is just mine. Something that I love to do, that gives me a creative outlet. Then, a few nights ago, serendipity came calling.
On my Facebook feed, I saw a link called “31 Days to a Better Photo Series”. I started reading the blog, and was hooked. I remembered something about myself that I had forgotten- I’m not finished yet. There is more for me to learn and share.
So- here we are. Ahem.
I plan on sharing my 31 days of learning to take better pictures. After that, I plan on continuing my lessons. And this blog will document all of that. Mostly, it will just be photographs, though sometimes a picture needs a story to go along with it, and when that happens I’ll be Mother Goose.
Now that all the introductory stuff is out of the way let’s move forward. Day two of my 31 days was last night. I was instructed to read my camera’s manual. I did while watching James’ football practice. As I read, I snapped pictures, trying out functions on my camera as I went.
This picture was my favorite of the 260 (!!!) pictures I took yesterday. I love how the boys look so happy. I used my 200mm lens, the exposure was 1/320, and the f-stop was f/6.3. Certainly not the best picture I ever took, but this just makes me smile.
Man, I wish I were eight again, sometimes.
Phew! First post is in the history books! I hope you dig my new place. Feel free to tell me what you think and I hope you come back from time to time to check out what I’ve been up to. Thanks for stopping by!
